Mental Health Awareness VIRTUAL 5K - Fight the Stigma

Sat August 15 - Sat September 12

MHA5K is now a Virtual 5K

Dear Racers,

As the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and following our township guidelines for no large, outdoor gatherings for now, we have converted our race to a Virtual 5K which starts Sat 8/15/20 and ends Sat 9/12/20.

How does this work?   The key is flexibility – the Virtual 5K can be run or walked from any location you choose – on the road, the trail, treadmill, or track. You choose your own pace and time it yourself. When you register we will email you a bib that you can wear when you participate. When you’ve completed your 5K, submit your time (and hopefully a picture of yourself wearing your bib) and then you will be able to download a completion certificate. On Sunday 9/13/20 SWAG can be picked up at the Community Park .

We will get through this.  We will become a stronger society.  We will prevail.  With Sincere Regards,

Joseph Camarota - Race Director

Here Are Your Options:

Virtual races happen all the time, and allow you to join the fun without the crowds. You simply run the distance on your own, and report your results - we’ll send you instructions.

You want us to keep your registration fees to help cover our registration costs and donate to Minding Your Mind.  We deeply appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

Minding Your Mind is dedicated to ending stigma and destructive behaviors associated with mental health issues, moving away from crisis-based response to prevention through education.  Their primary aim is to provide mental health education to adolescents, teens young adults, and their parents, teachers, and school administrators. Their programs provide information regarding the signs and symptoms of mental health disorders, in addition to stressing that they are treatable and treatment is available.

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and the 2nd leading cause between the ages of 10-34.  In a 16-year span, suicide rates have risen 31%.  Depression, a leading cause of suicide, rose 60% between the ages of 14 to 17 and 41% between the ages of 12 and 13.

Our mission through this event is bringing awareness to this crucial topic devastating families and communities.

Please support us in eliminating the stigma towards mental health and help educate our community on the psychological disorders shattering our society.

A great team-building experience, it would honor us to have your company, business or organization take part as a Virtual Running Team.
