Description

We are excited for our 2024-2025 basketball season.  We thank everyone for your ongoing support and look forward to having a successful season!

Children in 2nd through 8th grade and attending St. Charles Borromeo School or attending the St. Charles Borromeo Religious Education Program are eligible to participate.  Enrollment will be verified to confirm eligibility.

This required medical form will need to be completed by the first practice in order to participate in CYO Basketball.  This physical form must be signed by a doctor and submitted to the St. Charles school office to be eligible to participate. One form per school year will cover participation in all sports for the 2024-25 school year. Your child’s doctor will complete the form if they had their annual physical in the past year. Therefore, you should not need to make a separate appointment to get this form completed if your child has been seen in the past year for their annual physical. Please do not wait until the last minute to get this completed as it may take a couple of weeks.

St. Charles Borromeo Parish School participates in the Burlington County Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Basketball League, competing with other schools and parishes in the area for 3rd through 8th grade, with a developmental clinic for 2nd graders.  To participate, students must be attending St. Charles Borromeo School OR attending the St. Charles Borromeo Religious Education Program.  We follow the philosophy and guidelines set forth by CYO, as well as those of our parish and school.  The CYO Basketball program exists to continue the student's educational learning in the area of healthy competition, teamwork, healthy physical skills and habits, and striving to be the best one can be.

We also have a CYO High School Boys' League for high school boys that do not play on their high school team.  Practices for this team will start after Thanksgiving.  Registration for the boys’ high school division is also open.

For 3rd through 8th grade, there will be player evaluations in grades where there is enough to fill more than 1 team in a division.  Dates/times will be communicated at the beginning of Oct. to those registered that need to attend an evaluation.  Registration by Oct. 5th is required.  Every effort is made to ensure that everyone has a team on which to play.  Team and coach information will be released by the end of October.  Practices will also start by the end of October (based on coaches' availability).  Teams will practice up to 2 days a week Monday through Friday sometime between 5:30 - 9PM.  Practice schedules will be created based upon the coaches’ availability and gym availability once teams are formed.  Practices will be held at either St. Charles, Holy Cross Academy, or one of the schools in the Cinnaminson area.

For 3rd through 8th grade, regular season games will start the first weekend in December and run until the end of February.  Home games will be held on Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons, or Sunday afternoons at either St. Charles or Holy Cross Academy or another school in the Cinnaminson area.  Away games can vary based on the teams being played and their gym availability.  There will be a break for games over the Christmas holiday from approximately Christmas Eve until New Year's Day.  Playoffs will be approximately the end of February and beginning of March.

For the 2nd grade clinic, there will be up to 2 practice days per week at either St. Charles or Holy Cross Academy.  The commitment is pretty flexible - kids can make practices as their schedule allows.  Practices will start at the beginning of November and run through until the end of February.

Each program also has a participation fee that covers the CYO registration, referee and league fees, gym time, equipment, and miscellaneous expenses.  For 3rd through 8th graders and high school, the fee per player is $125.  For the 2nd grade developmental clinic, the fee per player is $75.  The maximum fee per family is $250.  When registering your family, if the total fee exceeds $250, you will only be charged $250.

St. Charles Borromeo Basketball season runs from October to March (except for the 2nd grade Developmental Clinic which will start in November and end in February).

Teams are as follows:

- Developmental Clinic - 2nd Grade
- Frosh Boys & Girls - 4th Grade and lower
- Sophomore Boys & Girls - 5th Grade and lower
- JV Boys & Girls - 6th Grade and lower
- Varsity Boys & Girls - 8th Grade and lower
