Description

Benefiting The Jefferson Elementary School HSA

Tired of the same old fundraiser?  Bored of just sitting down waiting for your number to be called? WELL THEN THIS IS FOR YOU! Our expensive playground is finally on it's way & it's time to start building back our bank for future projects. Please join us for a day of FUN and FRIENDLY competition at the Jefferson School Baggin & Braggin Cornhole Tournament.  The event will be held on June 12th at the VFW Post 7925 in Fairfield (45 Plymouth Street).  There'll be music, raffles, laughs and CORNHOLE!
This is an ADULT ONLY event (for adult only reasons) but NOT limited to Jefferson Elementary families - we hope our entire community will come out to support us!  Each bag you throw brings us closer to supporting the Jefferson Elementary School initiatives and improvements our kids all deserve!

Thank you in advance to our wonderful families and community for all of your support.

There are two ways to participate:
1.  Register as a Tournament Team of Two: Teams consist of two (2) members participating in the tournament. Each team will be matched through a random process for bracket competition.  There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  All teams are guaranteed at least 2 games throughout the duration of the event.
2.  Join us as a Spectator: Come out to support all our teams, our school and enjoy a day of great company, music, food trucks and raffles.
Register today!  Attendance is limited for teams and spectators.
Because this is a fundraiser, we are asking each team that registers to bring a set of boards and bags that someone will play with.  If you need assistance locating a set of boards to bring, please contact Amy Miller amy@ame-inc.com otherwise, it will be assumed that you are bringing a set.  Do both team members have a set?  Let us know that too please because we may need both!  Again, it's a fundraiser :)

What Other Ways Can I Win?
Even if you're not lucky in cornhole or just not participating, we will be offering other opportunities to win BIG like our 50/50, a super grand prize valued at over $700, a wine pull, and other AWESOME prizes throughout the day!

Cornhole Rules of Play

SET UP:
  • 27′ front edge to front edge of the boards
  • Teammates stand opposite each other at opposing ends
  • Each team gets 4 bags total (same color) to throw per round in an underhand pitching motion
  • Each team alternates throws until all bags are thrown to determine score
  • Players throw from behind the front edge of the board to avoid a foot fault (pitching box)
  • A foot fault or player throwing out of turn results in the thrown bag being removed from the playing surface

SCORING:
  • First team to 21 points per game wins OR 15 min time cap for each game
    • At 15 min, if a team is NOT at 21 points, the team with the highest number of points wins the game except in the instance there is a tie score at the 15 min time cap where the next point scored wins the game.
  • Bag on the board is 1 point (woody)
  • Bag in the hole is 3 points (cornhole)
  • Bags must land and stay on the board or go through the hole to score
  • Knocking an opponent’s bag off the board is allowed
  • The team which scored the most points lead off next frame
  • A bag that hits the ground before landing on the board surface does not count and is removed from the field of play before the next throw
  • Cancellation Scoring: Points are tallied at the end of each frame using cancellation scoring, meaning that points scored by both teams will cancel each other out.
    • For example, if Team A scores 5 points in the frame and Team B only scores 2 points, then the total points for that frame will be 3 points for Team A and none for Team B. Because Team A won the frame, Team A will be the first to toss in the next frame.

Additional Rules & Regulations

  • Pre-registration is a must. Space is limited so register ASAP! Registration will close once we reach our maximum number of teams.
  • All teams are guaranteed at least 2 games throughout the duration of the event.
  • To be eligible for a cash prize, team members must be 18 years or older. NJ law prohibits anyone under 18 to receive a cash prize.
  • Sign-in/Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 12. Bags will fly at 11:30 a.m.
  • Food Trucks will be present for food purchase. You are welcome to bring your own coolers to enjoy an adult beverage (BYOB).
