Description
MMA Training & Conditioning Clinic
Program runs EVERY Thursday for 5weeks.
PROGRAM TIMES:

-Thursday October 6th.
This program is designed for those 16+ interested in MMA, both as a combat sport or simply as a fitness/conditioning experience. Both of which harmonize with one another perfectly, allowing the participants to garner such skills and cardiovascular levels that exceed the norm. The program will test both mind and body of the individual, which coincides with their ability to endure intense interval training along with acquiring the tools necessary to become stalwart and effective fighters. In other words, going the distance and tapping into the deeper self to bring out the warrior spirit that lays dormant in all of us. It’s there, trust and believe!
Led by Yoel Ellen, who has fought for several fighting venues over the course of his MMA career since 2015, lend to his level of expertise and methodical understanding of “The Way”. Such venues include Extreme Cage Fighting (ECF, Queens NY), Asylum Fight League (Berlin NJ), Global Proving Grounds (GPG, Vorhees NJ) and Primal Fight Promotions (PFP, Princeton NJ).
Methods implemented by Skorpion Tribe MMA will be used throughout this program, as though the participant themselves were preparing for an MMA match, and should expect vigorous exercise, intense drills, and a well-rounded understanding of application. Loose fitting clothes are advised, shoes are optional, mouth guards will be needed at some point for eventual sparring sessions and investment in groin protection should be considered. This program is meant to better the individual, not to belittle but to empower, to have fun while training and turning sheep into wolves! (Keeping your sheep skin is optional! Wink!)
Week 1—Basics
· Establishing rhythm
o Proper footwork
o Familiarization of the Jump Rope (these will be provided)
o Proper guard stance and movement whilst in guard
o Defending & Attacking while in rhythm
Week 2—Striking Drills
· Pad work—executing jabs, straights, hooks, upper cuts, elbows, combinations.
· Bag work—executing knee strikes, elbow strikes, round kicks, teeps.
· Partner drills—slips, dips, moving offline of attack, utilizing counters and exploitation of angles.
Week 3—Endurance & Strengthening
· Body weight drills
· Control of breathing through intense exertion
· Working through settling fatigue
· Becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable
Week 4—Groundwork
· Shooting
· Leg ties
· Sprawls
· Takedowns
· Position
· Submission
Week 5—Sparring
· Time to put it all together!
· 2-3 minutes rounds
· Utilize all knowledge gained
· 50-60% intensity (we’re not trying to kill each other, y’all, and this isn’t a real match. Relax and have fun with it!)
