Description

All clues and FAQs will be emailed and posted by Friday - April 2nd.  Thank you.
The GDFAR Scavenger Run is a FREE VIRTUAL CHALLENGE to be completed on April 3rd or 4th. In the spirit of an Easter Egg Hunt, your challenge is to find stuff! That’s right, we will be sending you on a scavenger hunt (or we like to say RUN) in search of 20 objects/items/sites which will be revealed on Friday, April 2nd.  Your job will be to run a self-designed course in hopes to capture on camera as many of the 20 items as you can. Each item you find will be worth a specific point value, some will be difficult (more value), others not so much. Also, your mileage will be counted toward points… so for every mile you run, you will earn an additional point!

ALL STATES CAN PARTICIPATE!

Prizes:

The TOP 3 Participants will receive terrific prizes. PLUS, ALL Participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win MANY more amazing prizes donated by our fabulous business friends! Examples of prizes include race entries, gift certificates to restaurants and shops, wine tastings, etc. CRITERIA: The more stuff you find and the further you run, the more chances you will have to win! Winners will be selected on Monday, April 5th.

What to Know:

It’s YOUR Run – YOU map the course:

  • Distance does not matter
  • Pace does not matter
  • Location does not matter

What does matter is the following:

  • You must be running or walking (No photos from a car or bike, etc)
  • This must be a SINGLE TIME Run/Walk on either April 3rd or April 4th (data proof is great, but not required). Multiple runs can not be combined.
  • To be eligible for prizes, you must have photos of the items you find as proof. (selfies are preferred – only because they are more fun! 😊)
  • You must report your results by Monday morning (April 5th) at 9am. You will be given access to the digital reporting form on Friday, April 2nd.
  • Stay safe and follow pedestrian rules when running on public property.
  • When taking photos, respects others privacy. All items will be legal, public items. However, we suggest not taking photos of others if you do not have their permission.

What we encourage:

  • Join the “It’s a Good Day for a Run Group Page” and upload/share as many photos as you can of your Scavenger Run Results!
  • Post on your personal page or other Running Group Pages. Use #GoodDayforaRun #GDFARScavengerRun #ItsaGoodDayForaRun
  • Tell friends about it so they can participate too!

Cost:

  • FREE for the Scavenger Run

FAQs

Thank You for participating in the GDFAR Scavenger Run. Please read below our FAQs.
  1. Can I walk? Yes, All Paces are Welcome to participate
  2. Do I need to find all of the items? NO, you can find all, some, or simply one.
  3. How are points earned?
    • Each scavenger hunt item can be counted only once. (3 bridges are  not 3 points... just 1)
    • Each item is worth 1 point
    • You earn 1 Point per mile.
    • You can also achieve 3 bonus points if you wear a GDFAR race shirt/apparel item during the run (i.e. Run the Vineyards, Chili Run, etc.)
  4. How do I win prizes? The top 3 prizes go out to those who achieve the most number of points. After that, all points/names are entered into a pool and selected until we give away all prizes that have been donated. Therefore, the more points you have, the better chance you have to win. However, this also gives EVERYONE a chance to win a great prize!
  5. How do I provide proof for items found? Please keep items on your phone/computer in case we ask for proof (to be emailed), but we encourage you to upload to one of the provided links on our "Submit Your Results" page.
  6. Can I run more than once/both Saturday and Sunday? NOT for this challenge. This is supposed to be a single run.
  7. Do I need to provide proof for my run/distance? While we would like to say yes, we will NOT require proof as we understand that a lot of participants will not have GPS devices or Apps proving their route/distance. It is our ultimate goal to get get as many runners and walkers to enjoy this challenge and have a day out. We do not want to limit to those who use certain technology.
  8. When do i need to submit my results? To be eligible for prizes, please complete the "Submit Your Results" Link by Monday morning (April 5th) at 9am.
  9. When and where will results be posted.? Results and Prize winners will be posted by Tuesday, April 6th on this site and emailed.
  10. I ordered a shirt...When will I receive my shirt? We are submitting final shirt order on Wednesday, March 24th.  Shirts should be mailed by Wednesday, March 31st.
