Description

4 virtual events spaced out every two weeks where the athletes and their timers will record the various timed segments and submit the results via email which will be compiled and published that Saturday evening.  Athletes have the option to run these events any day during that week Monday thru Saturday.  Athletes are encouraged to warm up properly for at least 15-20 minutes before running these events. 

These four "events" are very difficult workouts and are designed to be a substitute for the canceled competitive events this Spring.  Times are based upon the honor system, comparing your results will only be helpful to you if you reflect accurately what you did.  These events are not appropriate for athletes who have not been training seriously - weekend warriors need not apply.  Pecos Valley Athletics encourages all athletes to keep training, seize the day, separate yourself from the competition. 

Event #1 -  MARCH 23-28 BROKEN 2 MILE
Event #2 -  APRIL 6-11 CRAZY INTERVALS
Event #3 -  APRIL 20-25 BROKEN 2 MILE
Event #4 -  MAY 4-9 CRAZY INTERVALS

BROKEN 2 MILE: Run the following 400m and 800m segments for time, with a 400m easy recovery jog/skip (don't walk) between the timed sets.  The recovery 400m is not timed but should take between 2:45 and 3:15".  The whole event is designed to be run continuously without walking or stopping.

       OPTIONAL BROKEN 1 MILE: For athletes 12 years old and younger (400, 800, 400 w/ a 400m recovery jog between)

 

CRAZY INTERVALS: Athletes will run a 2k of alternating 200m and 400m segments with a 200m recovery walk up to the next starting point. Bonus/Penalty time will be added to the athlete's overall time by adding the difference from the previous interval of the same distance.  FOR EXAMPLE 1st 200m run in 40". If the 2nd 200m is run in 39" then the cumulative time at that point will be 40 + 39 - 1 = 1:18. If the 2nd 200m is run in 41" then the cumulative time will be 40 + 41 + 1 or 1:22.   Key = run fast even intervals alternating between your 200m pace and 400m pace.

For each event submit the following information before the end of that Saturday to ClubPVA@gmail.com

  • Athlete Name
  • Sex
  • Age
  • Timed results for each of the segments
  • Name of Timer if athlete is under the age of 18 (Adults can time themselves)
  • Phone # of Timer

RESULTS WILL BE EMAILED TO REGISTERED ATHLETES AND POSTED ON THIS PAGE AND @CLUBPVA
