Run4Wilbs

For six years now, CNN has been selecting iReporters to race in a triathlon with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and the Fit Nation team.

Last year Allegany, New York native, Mike Wilber, was one of six selected to be a member of the Fit Nation team. He trained and prepared for the 2014 Nautica Malibu Triathlon on September 14, 2014 and successfully crossed the finish line.

Mike, a.k.a. “Coach Wilbs” is a Physical Education Teacher, and the Boys Varsity Track and Field and Varsity Girls Swim Coach at the Allegany-Limestone Central School District. Run4Wilbs was organized last year by his friends and family to help off-set the costs of having his children go to Malibu to see their dad cross the finish line. With more than 200 runners/walkers last year, Run4Wilbs was a huge success. So much so that, “Coach Wilbs” and his family and friends have organized the 2nd Annual Run4Wilbs. He has inspired so many people on his Fit Nation journey and wants to continue encouraging his family, his students and his community to make the changes necessary to live healthier lives.

This year, Run4Wilbs 2015 will benefit both the Allegany Engine Company and The Nic Pendl Scholarship.
