Description
A 5K Run/Walk in Prospect Park Brooklyn on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 9:00 AM. Start and finish at the southern end of Prospect Park across from the Peristyle.
The Race for Edie 5K Run/Walk is a celebration of Edie Perkins, an avid runner and cyclist, well-known for her speed and quick wit. On April 20, 2017 while on a solo morning bike ride, Edie was hit by an SUV whose driver was momentarily blinded by the sun. The accident and resulting spinal cord injuries left Edie paralyzed from the chest down, but that hasn't stopped her. Edie is back home in LA living and working independently and also back to racing. This event brings together local athletes, friends, colleagues and fans of Edie's unbreakable spirit to raise money for Edie's ongoing recovery to live her best and fullest life possible. We're shooting to raise $25,000 to help fund a new car for everyday life, including the transport of her handcycle for riding in safe places.
Online registration will end on Saturday, June 8 at 12:00 PM. Race Day registration is available.
