Event options
50K ~ Run or Walk
The Lower Lake in Cassadaga hosts a perfectly distanced 5K.
We all start off together at 8am. A 3.1 mile loop around the lake. With an aid station at the starting point, you will complete the loop as many times as you'd like.
A warming location inside the Community Room with restrooms available, you can take as many breaks as you would like. All breaks are included in your finish time.
NO CUT-OFF TIMES
Ruck
Completing the same route and the same start time, you complete the 5K loops with a rucksack on your back. Nothing else is different.
What is a Ruck?
A ruck is short for rucksack (military slang for a backpack.) It can also mean the action of rucking or going on a ruck march. For example, you might say: “I rucked 10 miles yesterday with a 20lb weight in my backpack.”
You can "ruck" with any amount of weight with a minimum amount of 20 pounds.
Rucking Tips – The basics:
1. Grab a backpack
2. Load it up with at least 20 lbs of weight; can be bricks, dumbbells, plates, anything to get the 20 lbs.
3. Move - the distance and the pace is totally up to you.
Only rule - you have to keep the weight on for your entire distance.
We will award one prize each to the top M/F finisher of the full 50K RUCK category.
Why do we call it NO-FRILLS?
No frills means no frills. No finisher medal, no race shirts.
Top 3 Overall Male & Female of the full 50K will receive an embroidered beanie.
