Description

Come join us as we attempt to break last year's race earning of over $5,000 for charities (Dirty In Your Shirty Event) as we host a charity cross country race to raise proceeds for the Chemung county SPCA as an attempt to increase adoption rates, increase care provided for the animals, and increase the overall service that can be provided for the shelter animals and the community.

Registration includes:

  • Tshirt (if registered by July 16)
  • Coupons to turtle leaf
  • local event flyers
  • course map
  • run sign up brochures
  • race bib
  • race pins
  • anything else our sponsors give us

This unique and different cross country style race offers the opportunity for new or experienced runners to explore the trails a high school and college cross country runner would experience. This event is to increase community involvement alongside the competitiveness college and high school cross country races offer.

The 6k allows a 5k runner to increase their fitness to better complete those 5k's and for the 10k runners to try a shorter distance and work on their speed.  The course is a 6k and 8k distance with the option for a 2 person relay race for the 8k. This relay allows each individual to run a 4k split and partake on a team for a chance to win the team category. We ask people in the relay to come in matching colors or uniforms. A dog toy will be given as a type of baton for handing off. A course official will be at the hand-off location to help with confusion.

Bathrooms will be provided on site alongside running water. Plenty of parking will be provided. The option of food will be provided by any sports teams willing to come and set up concession stands to fund money for their teams.

Our affiliation this year with the Chemung County SPCA has allowed us to include adoptable dogs into our races as well. This is a family friendly race and kids under 5 are free to run. Walking and running are allowed.

2 heats will be available for the 6k. Heat 1 will be for the competitive runners who are looking to run or a good time. Heat 2 will include all the walkers, individuals with dogs, kids etc.  volunteers for races are always welcomed.

Any volunteer that comes prior to the event to set up the course the night prior and aid in tearing down the course will be awarded a free registration for the race this year and next year. The first 20 individuals to sign up for set up and tear down and show up will receive free registration for this year.

Winners will be awarded prize money from the different raffles provided, tshirts, a medal, and anything else the sponsors decide to give us. Top 5 male and top 5 female from each race will receive a top runner tshirt. All runners have the option to grab snacks after the race provided by wegmans. Doggy and people drink stations will be set up around the courses appropriately. Our staff will clean up the doggy poo as well.
