Run/Walk for Bake

This 2nd run/walk 5k is to commemorate our very dear friend Steve Baker. This will not be a competitive event and there will be no place finishers, rather a way to gather, support, and observe a wonderful human being. We welcome anyone who would like to participate...Runners, Joggers, walkers, bikers, families with strollers, pets etc. will all be welcome! We hope that this can be an annual tribute to Steve, his life and accomplishments, and legacy, that we all admire. Young people 5 and under are free to participate!! We will have a food truck this year (Brake from the Grind: https://www.facebook.com/brakefromthegrind), and will be set up at the finish of the race @ Franklyn's Field in Rome. They are graciously willing to donate 10% of the profits to our cause so please come hungry! Money from the event will deposited into an existing account for a scholarship offered in Steve's name each year at RFA. There will be announcements in the upcoming weeks in both the Rome Daily Sentinel and Utica OD as well as Facebook posts from close friends so feel free to share!! The event will start and end at Franklyn's field and be a 2.1 mile loop for Bake's baseball number!

Run will start and finish @ Franklyn’s Field 

Starting @ Franklyn’s field, we will travel west on Locust Street toward N.George (passing Ft. Stanwix Elementary)
We’ll take a right up N. George an around Vogel Park (to the right, bringing us to Sycamore)
We’ll take another right and west on Sycamore (towards the Baker’s old house), crossing Madison headed towards the baseball field (a walk that the Baker’s ‘probably’ took before!) 
Just past the field, we’ll take a right up Craig to Walnut
We’ll turn right and back east on Walnut to James.
We’ll turn right and head south on James back to Franklyn’s field (2.1 miles- Bake’s number!)

*Food truck on site and will offer a percentage toward the Stephen Baker memorial scholarship!!
