Paul struggled with addiction most of his adult life. Paul was a loving father to his 2 sons. He was raised in Lansingburgh. After being clean for over a year and a half, Paul suffered a relapse that he couldn't overcome. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase a bench to place in Oakwood Cemetery in remembrance of Paul, in addition to a donation to the Troy Drug Free Community Coalition to assist in community prevention and education, as well as creating a culture of support for those in need and those in recovery.
Our goal for Paul’s Race for Recovery is to raise awareness and lower the stigma surrounding this disease. If just one person is saved, or a conversation started, our goal will have been reached.

The Troy Drug Free Community Coalition works towards the vision of a healthier, safer more prosperous Troy by implementing evidence- based prevention community strategies that are proven to reduce youth substance use. Our focus is on underage drinking and marijuana use because they are still the substance of choice among our young people.
Troy DFCC believes that “ Good Things happen when the community comes together” so as a community convener, we enlist the help from all sectors of the community to continue to lead the charge to institute positive alternative for youth, drug law enforcement, prevention education and community awareness in the City of Troy. Our coalition consist of youth, parents, grandparents, Substance Abuse Counselors, Rensselaer County Mental health, Rensselaer County Probation, faith-based community, community residents, school, veterans, afterschool programs and members of the recovery committee.
