Description
The Fort Hill 150 Charity Endurance Challenge
When - Sunday, June 23, 2024
Time - 6:00AM until we finish (hopefully by 4:00pm)
Where - The Fort Hill Steps located in the Rocky River Reservation (North Olmsted)
What it is:
Jeff Swislocki (Me) and Kory Wheeler are taking on the Fort Hill Stairs in a charity endurance challenge!
Their goal is to each, and together, walk up and jog down these steps 150 times (there are 156 steps).
**At the beginning, after every ten flights, and after we complete the 150, we will run a trail loop starting at the bottom of the stairs that is approximately 0.40 miles. The total mileage of running we will accumulate is about 6.40 miles. Kory and I have set a time goal of trying to finish all of this work in ten hours.
Why We Are Doing It:
Kory and I have a similar vision of doing things for a higher purpose. We love serving our community through youth coaching, supporting our amazing local small businesses, and organizing community running events throughout the year. In the past I have done some pretty fun physical challenges in an effort to raise money for the local food pantry, small businesses in the area, and the Olmsted Spirit Scholarship Fund. I created this charity endurance event in the hopes of inspiring friends, family, and people who value hard work in the hopes of raising funds for ten very worthy organizations/funds/charities. Through our seat equity on June 23, we are hoping to earn your donations and raise $5,000 to distribute to those ten that were chosen (the list of organizations are below).
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
GO2 For Lung Cancer
The Olmsted Spirit Scholarship Fund
Olmsted Falls Athletic Boosters - Cross Country and Track and Field Programs
Love Doesn't Shove - Gabriella Kreuz (Cleveland Guardians In-Park Host and Ch 19 Feature Segments)
Cleveland Metroparks
Young Life Olmsted Falls/Berea led by Alex Meyers
Olmsted Falls Ultimate Frisbee - led by Coach Justin Zrenner
The Drake "WWDD" Davidson Scholarship
Kiwanis Club of Olmsted Falls
How You Can Support:
Kory and I are asking and hoping to earn your donation through the hard work we will be putting in for almost half a day of climbing these stairs on June 23. However, I created this sign up in hopes that you can also join us and do some flights with us that day! I don't expect you to come right at 6:00AM when we start. Honestly, we will need you later in the day, about 10:00AM and beyond because we will start getting pretty tired by then and will need your energy to help keep us going!
I want a general idea of how many people plan on coming out to support as well as what time you plan on coming! There will be a few options of specific number of flights you want to commit to or an option for just an undefined number and what you're feeling that day.
This signup is free. There will be an option to donate as well if you have the ability and feel like doing so! Every little bit helps! This is just a recommendation and not something you have to follow, but for every flight you plan on doing with us maybe donate $1 for each flight!
Kory and I are thankful for your support in any capacity you are able! Even if you can't make it that day or donate, it would be a huge help to share this event with your network on your socials to help get the word out!!!
