Required Background Check
All individuals who wish to participate and/or attend this mission, who are not military members/employees, or their dependents, at the 180th FW in a current active status, must consent to a criminal history/background check.
At a minimum:
- Individuals must submit their full name, date of birth, social security number, and a copy of their driver’s license number or state ID number so the check can be accomplished.
- Individuals under the age of 16 will only need to submit a name for accountability purposes.
Race Disclaimer
The Stinger 5K is held on an active military base. It is the current intention to host this run at the 180th Fighter Wing. However, please be aware that mission demands and wing security are the ultimate priority and may cause the event to be held virtually, rather than at the 180th Fighter Wing.
What is the Stinger 5K?
The Stinger 5K is a unique, once-a-year running event held on the grounds of the 180th Fighter Wing at the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport in Swanton, Ohio — just a short drive from Toledo. It’s not your typical road race: the course runs past fighter-jet parking pads and along the “Stinger” tarmac, beginning and ending at the on-base 9/11 memorial.
Whether you’re a competitive runner, a casual walker, or looking for a fun family outing — the Stinger 5K is built for all ages (open to ages 6 and up) and all levels.
*BASE AND MEMORIAL ACCESS FOR SECURITY CLEARED REGISTRANTS AND VOLUNTEERS ONLY.
