Description

 

NormanNEXT is excited to host our ‘Off to the Races’ 5K and ZeroK event on Saturday, April 20th, 2019.  This is a fun family event with food trucks and music that is open to all ages.  Costumes are strongly encouraged (cannot interfere with other runners).  Finisher medals will be given to all 5K participants.  Prizes will be awarded to the overall top male and female 5K finishers.  T-shirts are only guaranteed if registered by March 31st. 

NormanNEXT ZeroK will begin at 11am in Reaves Park.  This part of our day will be filled with family friendly games for runners and non-runners including a Stick Horse Competition, Derby Ball, Blinker Dash, Furlong Fury and an obstacle course, Jockey Jog.  Each game will start on the half hour marks.

7am-8:30am - Registrations and Packet Pick Up
9am - 5K Begins
10:15am - Winner Awards of Top Finishers
10:30am - Food Trucks Open
11am - ZeroK Games Begin
12pm -1:30pm- Mike Hosty Performs

Norman NEXT is a young professional’s organization for individuals 21 to 40 years of age, working or living in the Norman community.  NEXT is an organization that provides opportunities for young professionals to engage themselves with other young professionals and business leaders within the Norman community. NEXT provides different avenues for involvement within the community, such as social networking, government relations, community activism and leadership development, through our NEXT teams.

Proceeds raised during this event will go to ABLE.  ABLE is a nonprofit, community-based organization that supports adults with developmental disabilities. ABLE provides access to independent daily living assistance, group home facilities, vocational training, day-activity programs, on-the-job support, and community service activities. By acquiring self-sufficient living abilities and marketable work skills, people with developmental disabilities can expand their options of lifestyle, housing, and employment.
