WHAT'S AN FKT EVENT?

FKT stands for Fastest Known Time

Participants attempt to set the fastest known time on a registered course. FKT events are often adventure, mountaineering, or orienteering routes but can be on any surface, road, trail, or off trail as long as it's longer than five miles in length. You can check out the specifics and guidelines HERE

HOKA One One thought it would be great fun to feature The new BONDI X by registering a route that OKC know by heart, Hake Hefner Trail. Our invitation and challenge to you is to come out and see who can set the fastest known time mark for this route!

HOW DOES IT WORK

The route is the most direct path around Lake Hefner, (course map below), and can be run in either direction.

Participants record their time and submit to the FKT site from their GPS watch or device.

The run is classified as "self supported" meaning that runners carry their own water and supplies on the course if needed. We will have water available at the finish line for the post race

While we won't have official "race results" or prizes, we will issue you a bib for tracking and finish times online. Since this is a small and cozy invitation event, we'll give these to you on race day morning.

You'll be able to view, print, and share your finisher certificate with your Loop Time!

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY TIME?

Times are submitted at fastestknowntime.com.

You'll create a simple free account and instructions will be on the way via email.

You'll fill out some basic information about your run on the registered route and upload your device file as verification. Files can be submitted in the following standard formats:  gpx, fit, tcx, kml, kmz, csv, xml, an1, wpt, txt, ppc, trl, trk

There can be only one. One male and one female will set the coveted mark for all others to chase in the future. Attempts can be made at any time from now on once a route is established.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Lake Hefner Loop starts and finishes at the Lighthouse on the Bert Cooper Trail system at Lake Hefner. It can be run in either direction and follows the shortest possible path. That means using the Bike path rather than the pedestrian sidewalk and does not include Stars & Stripes Park or any of the many "additional distance" loops. The course is flat and fast although wind is always a factor in one way or another. This is one of the most visited training run routes in the OKC metro area and one many runners already track their PR's for.
