Description
Miles Against Melanoma OK will host it's 6th annual 5K and 1-mile fun run on Saturday September 21st at the Wheeler Ferris Wheel in Oklahoma City. Funds raised at this family-friendly race benefit MAMOKs mission to provide the public with education regarding the extreme damaging effects of the sun and tanning devices. Through MAMOK, we provide funding for awareness, education, advocacy and research for skin cancer, melanoma and cancers related to melanoma.
The 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at 8:30am and the 5K will begin at 9:00am.
Great family friendly event with $15.00 age based pricing for kids 10 & under.

Avoid the race day crowd and plan to pick up early! Choose from three convenient locations: Red Coyote Running & Fitness on Thursday, September 19th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Red Coyote is located at 5720 N. Classen Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK 73118
Academy Sports in Edmond on Friday, September 20th from 11:00am to 6pm.Academy Sports is located at 2501 S Broadway, Edmond, OK 73013
You can also pick up your packet on race day at 7:45am, but we encourage you to come early!
Save Your Skin Awards & Results
* Finisher medals will be awarded to participants
* Prizes will be given to top three male and top three women overall
Event Production and Bib Tag timing by Adventuretech Sports providing live online results, runner recognition announcements, optional text email notifications and online finisher certificate.
More About Miles Against Melanoma And Our Mission
Miles Against Melanoma is a national organization that began in 2010 in memory of Madison Watts, who at just 18 was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma. While she fought with bravery and courage, Maddy lost her battle in May of 2013 at just 19. She is the inspiration behind our local organization. While she is no longer physically present, her memory lives on and her story serves as reminder that melanoma is now a young persons cancer, being the most common for those between the age of 25 and 29. Our community is woefully under-educated about the damaging effects of unsafe sun and UV ray exposure and it is MAMOK's hope to bring more awareness and take action against this far too common disease.
