Description
In 2008, during her first semester of the Practical Nursing Program at Algonquin College, then 36 year old Carol-Anne Page was diagnosed with breast cancer. After two years and a long hard battle she overcame this great obstacle and was in remission. Being a single mom of a then 11 year old daughter Meghan, Carol-Anne continued her nursing program in hopes to make a better life for her and her daughter. Primarily living off of her OSAP loans while attending school, things were looking up and Carol-Anne was in her final semester when tragedy struck again. This time the news wasn’t as hopeful. The cancer was back and had spread to her liver and lymphatic system, Carol-Anne was now headed back for more chemotherapy treatments and forced to drop out of school with only 1 placement remaining. Already struggling to get by, she now had to deal with OSAP trying to get their money back, going to chemotherapy treatments and taking care of her now 13 year old daughter Meghan.
Times have been very difficult for the Page family and it is our hopes to makes things just a little bit easier for them. We have put together a 5k run and a 2k fun run/walk in hopes to raise some much needed funds for Carol-Anne and Meghan. Please join us on Saturday June 8th, 2013 at WC Levesque Fields located just off Riverstone Drive in Stonebridge. Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for children, water and snacks will be provided following the race. You can register on this website.
