Description
Our good friend and local runner Joe Dudman is turning 50 on June 22, 2014.
If you know Joe, you know he’s an all-around nice guy. One of the best friends you could ever hope to have: loyal, caring, smart, funny, and willing to get up at 5a and drive with you to a 5k in the Gorge.
So what do you get a guy like that for his 50th birthday?
A 5k, of course! But, we like Saturday races better, so the race will be on Saturday, June 21, 2014.
The Joe Dudman 5.0k Birthday Run is completely my fault, and he’ll probably be a little embarrassed to have his name in the race title; maybe we’ll run the race again and just call it the “Birthday Run 5k” … but this race is set up for EVERYONE involved to have a good time and to thank Joe for his friendship!
The race will be run in Beaverton, Ore., starting and finishing on Arctic Drive with pre- and post-race activities hosted by ADAPT Training. There will actually be two races, an elite race requiring qualifying times; and an open race in which any runner or walker can participate. The tentative schedule is to start the elite race at 7:30a and the open race at 8:15a or 8:30a (TBD).
Registration for this race is $25 and is available online here. $15-$20 from each entry for the elite race will go into a prize pool; proceeds from open race registration will benefit the American Cancer Society in memory of some very special people. You can RSVP to the event on the facebook page, too, to keep tabs on who else is going to party with us!
We will also need volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering, please visit the Volunteer + Contact page and fill out our volunteer form. There are volunteer spots that you can help out with, and still race!
