The 31st Best Dam Run & Walk in Oregon will again feature a 10K (6.2 mile) certified run & walk along a gentle stretch of the scenic and wild Clackamas River. The course begins on North Fork Lake and follows the river to Estacada's historic City Hall. Reminiscent of the Lake Tahoe Rim Run, this beautiful course features a gentle downhill race with views of the lake, bald eagles, nesting osprey, Northwest forests, wildlife and interesting geology. We are limited to the 1st 750 applicants so don't delay.What is the Best Dam Run & Walk?
Organized in 1983 to benefit local youth sports The ORRC Best Dam Run & Walk continues a tradition of creating a fun event to benefit youth activities. This year's event again features a beautiful course, wonderful awards and raffle prizes, and benefits the sponsoring organizations with proceeds to local community service endeavors. This year participants can support the Estacada Food Bank by bringing donations. Those donating food items will receive a second raffle ticket!
Where is it?
The Best Dam Run & Walk is in Estacada, just 25 miles SE of Portland, Oregon. Take I-205 South from Portland exiting at Clackamas, exit 12A, and follow highway 224 East 19 miles to Estacada's City Hall at Highway 224 & Main Street. Registration and packet pick up is at City Hall. Entrants will be bussed to the races start and the finish line is at City Hall on Broadway St.
When
The 31st Best Dam Run & Walk is on Saturday, September 27, 2014. The race begins at 10:00 AM sharp FOR RUNNERS, and WALKERS will be STARTING EARLY at 9:30 AM SHARP. You should be at City Hall by 8:30 AM if you are a WALKER and 9:00 AM if you are a RUNNER to take the bus to the race's start. The buses will start taking participants to the race start at 8:30 AM. This time of year is usually perfect for running and walking events. The temperature is usually cool and Indian Summers often continue sunny weather.
