I've seen a lot of you out running around the neighborhood over the past month or so - more than ever - and I thought it might be fun to have an official neighborhood run/race. Since we all need to continue to keep our physical distance from each other, a mass start, with everyone gathering to run together, isn't a great option right now. But, thanks to technology, and some creative thinking, I've decided to create the "Squire-Spencer Run": A 1 mile virtual run/walk around the neighborhood. The course is four (4) clockwise laps of the Joshua-18th loop. You can start/finish anywhere on the loop as long as you complete four laps, finishing in the same place you started. One lap is a little under 1/4 mile, so four laps will be a smidge shy of a full mile, but it's close enough.
If you're not familiar with what a virtual race/run is, here's how it works:
Everyone goes out and run/walks the four laps on their own, any time between May 1st and May 10th. Running/walking as a family is great, or you can run alone. Using a stopwatch, record the time it takes you to complete your four laps. Then you'll submit your times online to be entered in the results with everyone else's. That's it!
If this goes well, maybe we can even have an actual neighborhood race once life gets back to normal.
If you've got any questions or concerns at all, please just shoot me a call, text, or email.
Looking forward to seeing you all running around the neighborhood!
