You can help African Road by starting a Fundraiser!
Becoming a Fundraiser: This can be done by those participating in the 5k in person or remotely, or those just wanting to support African Road! You can either start one on your own and have your friends and family join in support, or invite others to join a team and fundraise alongside you! You do not have to be a run/walker to participate as a Fundraiser! Follow this link for instructions on how to join!

About African Road
Founded in 2010, African Road is a non-profit organization that partners with East African Changemakers to foster community-led development. By investing in local leaders and supporting grassroots initiatives, African Road empowers communities in East Africa. African Road creates opportunities for global friends and donors to learn, engage and partner with these communities, and our model of cross-cultural engagement is built on relationships and co-creation.
Festival
African Road's Festival and 5k Family Fun Run/Walk – the first-ever Festival Fun Run! This family and community-oriented event will be held Sunday, September 29th at Champoeg Heritage/State Park, with easy access just south of Portland, in St. Paul, Oregon. All ages are welcome! Open to walkers/runners or to those just wanting to come and learn at the Festival!
5k Walk/Run Course
The race's start/finish will be near the Riverside Pavilion. The out-and-back course is on paved bike paths and park roads.

Champoeg State Park (Choose “Pioneer Memorial Building” when searching driving directions and then follow the signs to parking and please park at Riverside)
Schedule
The event day will begin with a kid's run followed by a 5K walk/run, where individuals and teams can compete or meander the route.
Kids Run: 11:00am
Adult Run: 11:15am
Festival: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Festival attendees will check-in upon arrival, and come earlier to cheer on walkers/runners if they would like!
Packet pick-up: 5k participant's packet pick-up/check-in will be held day-of the run, onsite at Champoeg Park, starting at 9:30am.
Parking
African Road is providing a parking pass for those attending in-person, please consider carpooling with others!
Festival Activities
Fun Festival activities will start right after the 5K. Get ready for an afternoon of activity and delight. Tour the signature African Road Learning Stations, peruse the Marketplace, browse and bid on exciting Silent Auction packages, enjoy music and dance, play lawn games, enjoy delicious food carts, ice treats form Kona Ice, hosted drinks of beer and wine, and perhaps even have a chance to play drums with Changemaker Steven Turikunkiko from Rwanda who will be present for the day.
