Description

The Awesome 3000 has grown from 350 runners in 1983 to over 3100 participants today. Since the first run, the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation and people from around the nation have applauded tens of thousands of young winners who have crossed the finish line.

Recognized as one of the largest, timed, youth-only runs in the nation, the Awesome 3000 is a positive and challenging experience for all. Course distances of 1000, 1500 and 2000 meters are offered for elementary runners, while middle and high school students run the full 3000 meters. Additional courses of 300 meters encourage special needs and pre-school participants.

With the need of over 500 volunteers the day of the event, the community plays a huge role in this fun run which is always held the first Saturday in May.
