The Women's Beginning Walking and Running Clinic, aka Princess Steps, may be what you have been looking for. Whether you want to get into shape, improve your current fitness or simply work on consistency, this is your golden opportunity.
Select from different groups, each one progressing throughout the 12-week clinic. Benefit from the camaraderie and energy of your group and change groups at any time. Get to know others and develop new exercise buddies. Experience how fun walking and running can be and have a wonderful time!
Each week includes a 30-minute fitness talk to help you learn the basics of starting a program and staying injury-free. Following the talk, leaders will guide you and your group through your walk, walk/run or run.
Is it safe? Yes. 2020 taught us that we can adapt to comply with safety guidelines and state requirements. It is paramount that participants feel safe and confident. We have successfully executed an in-person/virtual blend. Feedback from the 2020 participants and leaders was awesome! We rotate which group is inside for the 6:15pm talk, while live-streaming on a private Facebook group for the rest to view. Even if it's your group's turn to view the talk in-person, virtual viewing is always an option. Then at 6:45pm, the in-person walk/run will begin outside. Social distancing and masking requirements continue.
*** Changing lives since 1998 ***
Spring Clinic * March-April-May
Fall Clinic * August-September-October
We look forward to continuing the tradition of the GFR Women's Clinic, aka Princess Steps! We'll host it safely and in compliance with state guidelines. The new format blends years of in-person success and resourcefulness with a modern, virtual element. We successfully executed the new format in the fall 2020 clinic and it worked out great.
MEETING LOCATION - Traditionally, all participants met in the store for the 30-minute talk before heading outside for the run/walk. Now, we alternate which group meets in the store, with distancing and masking.
CHECK YOUR EMAIL - Group location will be announced each week via email. Therefore, it is essential that all participants and leaders check the weekly emails in order to know where to meet.
LIVE STREAM - We'll live stream the 6:15pm talk on a private GFR Princess Steps Facebook Group so those not present won't miss out. Joining the Facebook Group is required for access to the presentation.
OPTIONS - If you're not in the store for the 6:15pm talk, you may view the live stream on your mobile device in your car or in the park, and then meet your group at 6:45pm. We'll plan to end the talk at 6:40 to allow time to get to the park. Talks will also be recorded.
FACEBOOK GROUP - Once again, the 6:15pm talks will be live streamed and recorded on the private GFR Princess Steps Facebook Group. Also, as discovered in both the Spring and the Fall 2020 Clinics, there are additional benefits to the Facebook Group and you'll be able to join prior to the beginning of the clinic.
