Oakland RunFest Training Camp

Start Logging Miles Anytime After January 4th

How it Works

THE BASICS- We want to help you prepare for the 2021 Oakland Running Festival.  Challenge yourself to run weekly miles as you push towards your race day running goals. Whether you are planning to race The Oakland Running Festival virtually on March 21, or just want to see how far you can push yourself before signing up, we have the community, training tips, and challenges to keep you motivated and energized with every run.

Registration is available even after the start date and runs through the end of the program.  The event is open to anyone, anywhere.

FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON LOGGING YOUR MILES, VISIT HERE!

As you progress, we will offer special theme weeks that you can do anywhere with additional goals and activities (such as running in a park or taking a photo of a mural)  And for those who are training locally, we will even offer special LIVE socially distanced group runs with our partner Renegade Running.

Learn More about The Program Activities HERE.

We have two different tracks to select from depending on the distance you are planning to run in March:

FULL/HALF-MARATHON TRACK

  • 250 Cumulative Miles over the course of 10 weeks
  • Weekly distance totals building from 15 miles to 30 Miles
  • Flexible Schedule to allow for customizations to meet your goals

10K/5K TRACK

  • 110 Cumulative Miles over the course of 10 weeks
  • Weekly distance totals building from 5 miles to 14 Miles
  • Flexible Schedule to allow for customizations to meet your goals

TRACK YOUR MILES- Log your personal miles each day on the Results Leaderboard and see how you stack up against others in the Training Camp. You don't need a GPS device to participate.  Track your mileage on your own using Stava, MapMyRun, Google Maps, FitBit, etc.  Then manually log your miles on our website as often as you wish and see your progress on the leaderboard.

MILESTONES- As you train, you will reach milestone checkpoints and earn badges for your personal Trophy Case.  Some checkpoints may unlock a prize or discount opportunity from one of our partners. You’ll have a 10-week window from January 4 to March 14 to complete the full Training Camp challenge.

NO LIMITS- One of the beauties of a virtual training is there are very few rules.  Want to bring your dog?  Sure.  Want to push a stroller?  OK.  Want to run some and walk some?  Yup.  You can even add distances multiple times per day so do some in the morning and more in the evening.  You make the call!

FLEXIBILITY- You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track.  There will also be the opportunity to substitute 20 minutes of your favorite exercise (yoga, crossfit, aerobics, etc.) for a mile.  This is a great option to stay active the weather may be questionable.   You get to complete your own training, at your own pace, and track it yourself.

OTHER PERKS- Each participant will get access to a printable IN TRAINING race bib that you can wear it while you compete or not, it's up to you.   Once you complete your miles, you can print your finisher certificate from the Results webpage.  Participants can earn prizes by reaching milestone checkpoints and by interacting with us in the members-only Facebook Group.

JOIN OUR TRAINING CAMP FACEBOOK GROUP- We will build a true community on our Facebook Group. This is a members-only page that all Training Camp are encouraged to join. Here you will meet like minded people with similar goals, asperations and passion for running the 2021 Oakland Running Festival. For the full Oakland RunFest Training Camp experience be sure to join this Facebook Group.
