About Prough Response
To the public, Timothy Prough always appeared happy and carefree. Most
people didn’t know that he was fighting an unseen war every day. My dad had
been fighting a battle with his demons for decades. His time in the U.S. Navy
and 20 years as a Corrections Officer was taking its toll. He spent many years
in treatment for his mental health. Tragically on November 3, 2021, he could
no longer fight and took his own life.
Even though my father and I didn’t begin to connect until after my military service was complete. My
dad had a large impact on my life. He was the reason in 2015 I began my service as a Corrections Officer.
Becoming the 3rd generation to do so. When my children began playing sports, it was the conversations
with him that led me to coach as he had done. We even had plans to coach a youth softball team
together.
After my father’s death, my world was turned upside down. The support I received from my co-workers
was 2nd to none but I always wondered if there was support out there designed for people like me. One
day I stumbled upon First H.E.L.P. which is made for families just like mine. They provide support for
the families left behind by first responders who are lost to suicide. They made such an impact that I
decided to try my hand at hosting a softball tournament to raise money for them. In the summer of 2023,
I hosted my first charity event, and it was the first time the Prough Response name would be used.
Almost $6,000 was donated to First H.E.L.P.
First responders are a large part of every community. Not only for the jobs they perform but for the time
they donate outside of their jobs. Look around the local sports leagues that your children are a part of, I
promise you will find multiple first responders. This is an example of the people Prough Response wishes
to support. We will provide an outlet with multiple recreational events while raising money and
awareness for their mental health. Earnings will be used to support first responders and veterans who
have spent much of their time supporting their community. We will also provide support to other
organizations with the same goal of helping first responders and/or veterans with their mental health.
Prough Response’s mission is to support the self-care of first responders and veterans through
recreational events. Funds will be used for direct support of veterans/first responders as well as support
of other charities which benefit first responders and veterans.
