This fundraiser supports The Kelci Ever After Do Good Fund at the Luzerne Foundation. We established the fund to honor Kelci, and through donations to it we have built a beautiful legacy of love. Ongoing community support has kept this going strong. For 6 years we supported the fund through the 6K run and 2K memory, and while that has ended, we still get requests for tie-dye "Kelci Shirts," so we brought them back for a fundraiser to support the fund.
We LOVE the shirts, and it makes our hearts happy whenever we see others rocking them too knowing Kelci is remembered and that good things are being done through the proceeds.
About Kelci and the Event:
Kelci, who passed away on July 24, 2012 following a car accident, was a free spirit who loved art, music, nature and having a good time, and doing good in her memory is the best way we can think to honor her beautiful spirit. Family and friends of Kelci Gibbons established this run/walk to benefit The Kelci Ever After Memorial Fund (administered by the Luzerne Foundation) for this purpose. Proceeds from the T-shirt sale benefit the fund which makes annual donations to local non-profits supporting causes that Kelci would have appreciated.
We have received incredible community support for our annual fund raising event, and we have been able to do an tremendous amount of good in Kelci's name.
Since 2013 over $30,000 has been donated to various organizations including Dallas & Lehman High School student scholarships, King's College scholarships for Dress for Success, study abroad and service learning, the Arbor Day Foundation for Peace Trees for Kelci, donations to Frances Slocum State Park (trees, a camera and other equipment for the environmental program), Back Mountain Youth Soccer, The Boys and Girls Club of NEPA, Dallas Middle School Courtyard Nature Project, and College Misericordia Social Work Department, Dinners for Kids, the Koala Foundation and The Food Dignity Movement.
In the past, we held a 6K Run and 2K Memory Walk. Here's a little about the Run and why there is a 6 on the back of the shirts.
Why a 6K and not a 5K? It's a 6K for Kelci. Kelci wore #6 on her jersey when she played soccer for Dallas High School (and as a member of the 2005 PIAA State Championship Team) and K, obviously is for kilometers, but for Kelci as well. We also like to be different. The 2K is a nod to her twinship.
