Virtual Race Course

Your Course - Your Start Time - Your Race Date

What is a virtual race?  You have between 4 and 5 weeks to train, and prepare yourself for an 'A' Game effort.  And with today's guidelines of social distancing and group size restrictions, it might be the ONLY way we get to compete for the next few months.  You have from April 25th to May 17rd to record your race.  You choose the course, the time, and the date.  Submit these results back to us, and we will combine and post all results.

All runners will be emailed instructions and a link to submit your results.  We will also have all runners submit a screen shot or gps watch image to verify distance & time.  We are all on the honor system :-)  But Overall & age group winners results will be reviewed and verified.

Set your goals.  Keep training and stay STRONG!

Runner Amenities

All runners will be awarded with a custom YMCA - Positive Mind - Negative Splits - Virtual Race T-shirt,

Rules & Safety

*Pick a safe course.  Especially for the cycle portions, be sure you pick a course that will have minimal traffic and safe roadways.  Plan a course that will have no stop signs or traffic lights.  Remember, you are on an open course, so if you are required to stop... do stop.

*Point to point, or out and back, both options are legal in our virtual race.  We are NOT allowed to start on top of a mountain and finish at the bottom.  We are all on the altitude honor system :-)  but any starting point 100 ft above the finishing point will be grounds for disqualification.

*Duathlon Transitions times will not be included in the calculations.  You will be submitting 3 separate times: run-bike-run.  If you need time to lock your bike up, change shoes, change cloths, etc... take your time.

*You may participate in any event using a stationary cycle, or treadmill.  Please indicate during registration, and again when submitting results if either were used.  Your results will still be displayed, in a special indoor division.

*If you need to bike or run a few miles to get to your "safe", low traffic, no intersection race course, feel free to do so. Just crop out the beginning or the ending of your travels, and only submit GPS verification of the portion distance you raced. ie; 5K, 15M, 50M, 1M, etc.

*In the event you are not able to participate and record your race 4/25-5/18, we will also hold a second results collection date.  Should you become sick, or your area goes under a stricter shelter in place lockdown, No worries, stay safe, & recover.  We will hold a second collection date June 13th - 21st.

*Consider all USAT rules in effect.  Helmets are mandatory on the bike,  & Practice social distancing...NO DRAFTING :-)

Supporting Your YMCA

Registration proceeds and fundraising through this event will directly benefit your local YMCA.  Your city & YMCA will also be listed in our final results.  And a letter of recognition will go out to your Y listing all the members of your team of supporting athletes.

100% of the money's raised through donations and fundraising will go directly to the YMCA listed as the benefactor. *minus the run signup.com processing fee

50% Of your registration fee will go directly to the YMCA you choose to represent, if your YMCA has over 10 athletes competing.  -OR-

25% Of your registration fee will go directly to the YMCA you choose to represent, if the YMCA has 9 or less competing athletes.    **Spread the word & earn more for your Y!

Testimonial

It was my personal privilege to work over 24 years at my local YMCA of Hazleton PA.  I served as a swim team coach, race director, and aquatic director during those years. I know first hand the financial difficulties that so many YMCA's deal with from year to year.  YMCA's now have their doors temporarily closed and certainly some difficult days ahead.  I've seen the phrase: #stickingwiththeY, and #thereforyou.   I don't want to imagine my community without the YMCA.  I support the Y, and hope when life returns to normal, they can all re-open their doors, and continue to serve in their communities.

I will serve as the event race director, head official, score keeper, and mail delivery.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly; rob@secondwindtiming.com

Stay safe, and many thanks for your support,  Rob Gould
