In Memory of Lisa Napoletano
Lisa Napoletano was a Freshman at Marian and a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Early March, she was involved in an unfortunate ATV accident and passed away from her injuries. The Marian Community, Cross Country Team, and Track and Field Team was blessed to know her and have her in our lives, even for such a short period of time. Part of this event is dedicated to her memory and the impact she had on her school and her teams. In order to honor her, her family has set up a scholarship fund and non-profit organization "Lisa Napoletano-Running with the Angels" honoring her memory that is awarded to a member of the Cross Country Team, Track and Field Team, or is active in Snowboarding and that display strong team spirit and values academics. This option allows you to donate towards the scholarship fund in her memory as she Runs with the Angels.
RACE DAY
What to expect on race day May 11:
🏃♀️We are running on a rolling start to help follow social distancing guidelines. This means when you arrive at the race you can take off!! Rolling start begins at 9am -9:30am. We ask that faster more competitive runners come earlier.
🏃♀️There is street parking in Jim Thorpe however with the race being on a Saturday there may be less street parking options. There is paid parking by the Jim Thorpe Train Station.
🏃♀️Race will take off behind the Jim Thorpe Train Station (across the street from Myst) there will be a big blow up at the start of the race which will track your time. Your time is being tracked with your number so make sure you have it pinned on
Start Format
We will be scoring over all winners based on 'gun time' and age group winners based off 'chip time'. We ask for elite runners going for the win to toe off first at the start line. There is no need to stand crowded together at the start line. All runners will receive an official 'chip time' based off the time they individually cross the start line to their finish. The 'chip time' is used for all age group ranking.
Course Description
5K Run - The 5K Course will consist of 1.55 miles out and back on the lovely D@L Trail. The race will be run on the Lehigh Gorge Trail, starting south out of the Jim Thorpe Train Station lot.
5K Walk - Untimed event starting 1/2 hr after the competitive 5K run. This event uses the same course.
1M Youth Race & Adult Fun Run - Both events will start at the same time, and will consist of a .5 Mile out and back course.
