Description

We're adding a new event to our annual Blueberry Festival in Montrose, PA! Come on out on Saturday, August 3rd for our First Annual 5K and Fun Run. Work up an appetite on the race course, and then have some blueberry pancakes at our breakfast tent! We have family friendly events happening all day on the Village Green in Montrose, PA. If you're feeling extra competitive, sign up for our pie-eating contest Saturday afternoon!  All proceeds from the Blueberry Festival (and 5K/Fun Run) benefit the Susquehanna Historical Society & Free Library Association.

The race will be run through the streets of quaint and picturesque Montrose. The 5K is a timed race, while the Fun Run is not.

5K AWARDS

Medals will be given to the top 3 male finishers and top 3 female finishers of the 5K in each age group:

12 & Under, 13-18, 19-30, 31-49, 50+

Cash prizes will be given to the top three overall Male and Female finishers as follows:
1st overall Male/Female - $50
2nd overall Male/Female - $40
3rd overall Male/Female - $30

There is a school award category being offered at this race that involves school athletic programs. If you are a school student, parent or immediate family member of a student, alumni, current or retired school employee, then you are eligible to race for your school. When signing up for the race, runners must identify what school they are affiliated with on the t-shirt size selection page. Scoring will be similar to the scoring at team cross country races, except it will be a co-ed score; that is by recording the places of the first five males and first five females of each school and adding those numbers together to determine the lowest score. Cash awards will be given to the three lowest scoring schools and an additional cash award will be given to the school that registers the most participants. A check will be made out to the running program of each school receiving an award.

Cash awards are as follows;
$500-first place school,
$300-2nd place school,
$100-3rd place and
$100 to school with the most participants.

If you want to support the athletic department of a Susquehanna County School District, please identify your school when asked.  If you love a Susquehanna County School, show your school spirit!

All runners who pre-register by 19th will receive an event T-shirt.

*Those registering after that date may receive a T-shirt if available. All participants (for the 5K and the Fun Run must sign a waiver).

Stay for the BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL!!!!!
