Running for Cover

The Noreen O’Neill Foundation for Melanoma Research is proud to announce the Eighth Annual Running for Cover festival! Join us for a fun and fulfilling morning at the Wells Fargo Center on June 30th for three Run/Walk Events.

Hey Philadelphia Sports Fans! The Festival includes a 5k run and:

• Prizes include autographed Sixers and Flyers gear.
• The Sixers Dance Team will be on hand to cheer you on!
• Join in with the Sixers Flight Squad.
• The course is really flat and fast and starts and finishes in front of the Wells Fargo Center.
• Don't delay, Registration is limited to only 1,000 runners and will sell out fast!
• Registration opens 7:30 a.m. at the Cure Insurance Club on the 11th Street side
• Event starts are: 5K- 9:00 AM   One Mile Walk- 9:05   Junior Dash- 9:30 AM

Comcast -Spectacor Foundation 1-Mile Walk – This is the walk for melanoma survivors and families. Come out and support the effort to help cure melanoma. Bring a team to raise funds and awareness for melanoma research and local education, screening and treatment programs because we all know how melanoma affects lives and families. This is our chance to show our support and bring together the community.

½ Mile Junior Dash – Because fitness is not just for adults, this year we have added the ½ mile junior dash. The Running For Cover Festival is for the whole family. With inflatables and moon bounces, this is an event that will be fun for all ages! Remember, it's never too early to live a healthy lifestyle.

Registration and Post Race – Our registration is in the fabulous Cure Insurance Club. After the race we will all head back to the shade of the Cure Insurance Club. Join us there where we can cool down and throw a little party.
The Honickman Foundation Family Fun Area houses health information, free skin screenings, giveaways, inflatables for kids and team mascots.
The Susquehanna International Group sponsors the Registration and Awards Area where our emcee makes the prize winning exciting.

The Charity

All proceeds benefit The Wistar Institute Melanoma Research Center, the nation's first private biomedical research institute, and one of only seven National Cancer Institute cancer centers for basic research in the United States. Every year, melanoma takes 8,000 people from their loved ones across the country. Despite a high cure rate for those who are diagnosed early, there are currently no effective treatments for melanoma once it has invaded the body.

Unfortunately, melanoma research has suffered from a lack of funding in recent years, despite the growing incidence of the disease. In fact, there has not been a major initiative to target melanoma in over a decade.

The Noreen O'Neill Foundation for Melanoma Research is dedicated to raising awareness about melanoma and funding research into increased prevention, early detection, and new treatments. With your help, we can make progress toward the day when scientists develop a cure. Governing documents, conflict of interest statements, financial statements are available to public upon request.
