Hustle for the Muscle 5K & 1Mile Fun Walk

Hustle for the Muscle is a 5k race and 1 mile fun walk designed to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy and raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). It is in memory of the late Lorden “LJ” Kidon, who was a student of Phoenixville Area High School’s (PAHS) graduating class of 2022. He was part of the Phoenixville Area School District from kindergarten until he tragically lost his battle to Duchenne muscular dystrophy in his freshman year at PAHS.

People living with muscular dystrophy are robbed of the strength that most of us take for granted every day: the strength to walk, talk, laugh, hug, and even breath.

All proceeds benefit the MDA in this region to help the families living with this disease and contribute to finding a cure.  

We are counting on the Phoenixville community at large to come together to support this event in any way possible, whether it be as a runner, walker, volunteer, donator, or sponsor. All participation is encouraged and appreciated.

Time: 8 AM || registration opens: 7 AM

Registration

Runners: $20 for registration prior to September 26, 2019

                   $25 for race day entries

Walkers: $10 for registration prior to September 26, 2019

                   $15 for race day entries

Participants are encouraged to pre-register. The first 30 people to register will receive a T-shirt.

Awards

Medals will be awarded to the first three male runners and the first three female runners.

The first twelve walkers overall will receive a small trinket.  

Course

5k Race: This event will be on the district's main campus, which includes the high school, middle school, district office, and Manavon elementary school. The course consists of roads, sidewalks, and a grass section. The race course is available to look at using the following this link: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2600691931

Please make sure to check the route again the day before the event just in case we have to update it due to inclement weather.

1 Mile Fun Walk: The walking course uses the sidewalks around the high school, district office, and middle school, and then finishes with 1 ½ laps around the track. The walking course can be found here: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2603240035
