The Recess at the Lake course offers a scenic, runner-friendly route at Greenfield Lake, utilizing the multi-use path and lakeside paver for both distances.

The start and finish for both the 5K and 1 Mile are located just east of the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater driveway on the multi-use path. Both the 1 Mile and 5K participants begin by heading south toward Legion Stadium.

The 1 Mile course turns around just past Stadium Drive before returning to the finish along the same path.

The 5K continues along the full southern portion of the lake, rounding the south end via West Lakeshore Drive. Runners then transition onto the lakeside paver heading northbound, where they will pass a water stop located along East Lakeshore Drive. The turnaround point is just before YOUPAN, after which runners retrace their steps back to the finish.

The course is straightforward, well-supported, and designed to showcase one of Wilmington’s most scenic running locations.
