RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: THIS WAIVER AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS AND IS LEGALLY BINDING.

TO BE COVERED IN THIS WAIVER: Suffolk County Police Department, Town of Islip, Sayville Running Company, Heckscher State Park, Sunrise Council, Knights of Columbus, Paws of War, Event Director, RunSignup.com, sponsors, volunteers, race officials, employees, agents, representatives, and any and all individuals, organizations, affiliates, or entities involved with or associated with this race.

In consideration of your accepting this entry, I, the participant, intending to be legally bound, hereby waive and forever release any and all rights and claims for damages or injuries that I may have against the Event Director, RunSignup.com, Suffolk County Police Department, Town of Islip, Sayville Running Company, Heckscher State Park, Sunrise Council, Knights of Columbus, Paws of War, and all sponsors, volunteers, race officials, employees, agents, representatives, affiliates, and any individuals or entities assisting with or connected to this event, for any and all injuries to me or my personal property. This release includes all injuries and/or damages suffered by me before, during, or after the event. I recognize, intend, and understand that this release is binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns.

I understand that participating in a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter or participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I assume all risks associated with participating in this event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, effects of weather, traffic, course conditions, acts of negligence by other participants, event personnel or spectators, and any other risks typically associated with a running or walking event. I acknowledge that all such risks are known and understood by me. I agree to abide by all decisions of race officials regarding my ability to safely complete the event. I certify as a material condition of my participation that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained for the completion of this event and that a licensed medical doctor has verified my physical condition if necessary.

In the event of illness, injury, or medical emergency arising during the event, I hereby authorize and give my consent to the Event Director and authorized event personnel to secure from any accredited hospital, clinic, physician, emergency personnel, or medical provider any treatment deemed necessary for my immediate care. I agree that I will be fully responsible for payment of any and all medical services and treatment rendered to me including, but not limited to, medical transport, medications, treatment, and hospitalization.

As it applies to my participation in this race, I agree to abide by the recommendations and guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as any applicable federal, state, county, or local health and safety regulations in effect at the time of the event. I also agree to comply with any event-specific health and safety protocols established by race organizers.

Further, I grant permission to the foregoing parties to use my name, voice, likeness, image, photographs, video recordings, motion pictures, race results, and any other electronic or printed recordings of this event for legitimate promotional, advertising, marketing, or other lawful purposes without compensation or notice.

This event follows the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The event organizers reserve the right to postpone, modify, or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond their control including, but not limited to, severe weather, natural disasters, emergencies, public safety concerns, acts of God, government restrictions, or any condition that may affect the safety and well-being of participants, staff, volunteers, or spectators. No refunds will be issued under such circumstances. Event details are subject to change without notice.

By submitting this entry, I acknowledge that I have carefully read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to this Release and Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk. If the participant is under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian acknowledges acceptance of this waiver on behalf of the minor participant.
