In consideration of being permitted to participate in the VCG Freedom 5K, I, the participant, intending to be legally bound, hereby waive, release, and forever discharge any and all claims, demands, rights, causes of action, and liabilities for injuries, damages, losses, or expenses that I may have against Veteran College Grants (VCG), the Event Director, RunSignup.com, the City of Friendswood, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, employees, officers, directors, agents, contractors, race officials, and all organizations or individuals associated with this event (collectively, the “Released Parties”). This release includes claims arising from the ordinary negligence of any Released Party. This release includes all injuries and/or damages suffered by me before, during, or after the event. I understand and agree that this release is binding upon my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, and assigns.

I understand that participating in a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, spectators, vehicles, animals, weather conditions, traffic, course conditions, equipment failure, medical emergencies, and any other risks associated with running or walking events. I waive any and all claims arising from such risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable. I agree to abide by all decisions of race officials regarding my ability to safely participate in and complete the event. I certify that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate in this event.

In the event of illness, injury, accident, or medical emergency arising during the event, I authorize the Event Director and/or event personnel to obtain medical treatment on my behalf as deemed necessary. I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for any and all medical expenses incurred, including transportation, treatment, hospitalization, medications, and related costs.

I grant permission to Veteran College Grants (VCG) and the Released Parties to use my name, likeness, voice, photographs, video recordings, race results, and other recordings of my participation for legitimate promotional, educational, fundraising, marketing, or reporting purposes without compensation.

This event follows the standard running industry policy that all entry fees are non-refundable. The event may be modified, delayed, shortened, rerouted, postponed, suspended, or cancelled due to weather, public safety concerns, emergencies, acts of God, governmental actions, or other circumstances beyond the control of the organizers. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. Event details may be changed without prior notice. I understand that my registration is non-refundable and that race bibs are non-transferable.

By submitting this entry, I acknowledge that I have carefully read this Waiver and Release of Liability, fully understand its terms, understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights, including the right to sue, and voluntarily agree to all terms contained herein. If registering a participant under the age of 18, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian and agree to this waiver on behalf of the minor participant.
