HOMETOWN POWER 5K RUN/WALK
ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY

Each participant, and parent or guardian of participants under the age of 18, shall agree to and sign this Assumption of
Risk and Waiver of Liability form for themselves and on behalf of any participants under the age of 18 whom they are
registering.

I hereby acknowledge and record my independent and voluntary decision to participate in the Lansing Board of Water &
Light (“BWL”) Hometown Power 5K Run/Walk event on August 8, 2026 (the “Event”). I further acknowledge that I
have read and agree to abide by rules for the Event.

Walking and or running in a competition can be a strenuous and potentially hazardous activity. I am aware that the Event
may present certain anticipated and unanticipated hazards including but not limited to personal injury. I agree that I
will not enter or participate in the Event unless I am medically able and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able
to perform this Event and am in good health.

I hereby understand and assume any and all risks for myself and/or my minor child(ren) associated with participation in
this Event including, but not limited to, falls, tripping, any other personal bodily injury, contact with other people
(race participants, officials, volunteers, spectators, sponsor, bystanders or non-involved general public), traffic, road and
surface conditions, and the effects of weather such as storms, heat and/or humidity, all such risks being known and
appreciated by me.

Having read this Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability, and in consideration of your acceptance of my application
for participation, I, for myself and/or my minor child(ren) or anyone entitled to act on my behalf, do expressly waive,
release, discharge, and covenant to hold harmless and not sue the Lansing Board of Water & Light, City of Lansing, or
Event volunteers (“Event Sponsors”) and any of their servants, agents, employees and assigns from and against any and
all liability, loss(es), damage(s), injury, illness or claim or any nature whatsoever, however caused, arising out of, in
association with, or related in any way to my participation in this Event and/or my child’s participation in this Event. I
hereby waive any right to recover from the Event Sponsors for any such injury, damage or loss.

I understand, consent to and authorize the use of mine or my child(ren)’s name, voice, photograph, likeness or any other
Event record in combination or alone, in any broadcast, telecast, print medium, advertising, promotion, or other account
of the events during the Event.
