The Longest Day

Held at Lakewood Nature Preserve

The Longest Day Backyard Elimination Run

Included in Registration

The Longest Day Race is your annual showdown with the sun, the heat, and that little voice that says “maybe we should’ve started earlier.” You’ll run with summertime blazing overhead, chase those golden-hour miles, and finish feeling like you just won a tiny personal battle against the universe. ☀️

Included with registration, your entry into the park is covered, and you’ll start the day with a custom race bib as your personalized proof you took on the Sun and didn’t blink. When you make it to the finish, you’ll earn a finisher medal, a shiny token of your solar showdown, plus event-themed giveaways that are somehow hotter than the midday blaze. 🎟️

We’ll hook you up with the essentials for surviving the sizzle: a Wildly Charged hydration sample to refill what the Sun tried to steal, and an iced/water towel to cool your molten soul back into a functional human. ⚡🧊

And because the Longest Day isn’t just about the grind, it’s about the glow, you’ll get complimentary race photos to capture those golden-hour moments, a race sticker for your cooler, car, or forehead (again, no judgment), and music plus a post-race party because after the burn comes the boogie. 📸🎶

☀️ HELLO, MORTALS! IT'S ME...  THE SUN . ☀️

And I'm calling you out to spend the longest day of the year on the trails at The Preserve at Lakewood. 🌅
I'll rise above the horizon at 6:30 AM sharp, and from then until I take my final bow near sunset, you'll be racing against me—and against time. ⏳
Every 2-mile lap is a chance to continue your journey. But each lap gets one minute shorter than the last. As the daylight fades, the challenge grows. Only the strongest runners will remain when evening arrives.

Welcome to My Playground🌳

The Preserve at Lakewood features 120 acres of forests, rolling grass trails, and abundant wildlife. While you're chasing your next lap, don't be surprised if a white-tailed deer, box turtle, or fox makes an appearance. 🦌🐢🦊
You'll pass through stands of red cedar and maple trees, hear mockingbirds and blue jays overhead, and experience one of Greenville's hidden outdoor gems.

Race Format

Start Time: 6:30 AM sharp ☀️
Course: 2-mile loop 🔁
All runners start each lap together. This is an elimination-style event, meaning your individual lap times are not recorded.
  • Lap 1: 45-minute cutoff
  • Lap 2: 44-minute cutoff
  • Lap 3: 43-minute cutoff.....And so on...
Each lap receives one minute less time than the previous lap.
Miss a cutoff and your race is complete. Ring the cowbell 🔔, turn in your bib, and cheer on the remaining runners.
If multiple runners survive to Lap 31, the first runner across the finish line wins.
