Description
After three years away, the Greer Earth Day Run returns to City Park in 2017!
The running festival includes a 10 mile run, 10K run, 5K run/walk and free Kids run. There is also an EXPO to accompany the running events, with many vendors displaying their products/services and offering special deals to attendees.
The three race COURSES at the Greer Earth Day Run are all brand new and borrow bits and pieces from routes used in previous years.
The 10 MILE course is based on the old half marathon and follows Hwy. 101 and the Verne Smith Parkway for the first half of the race. The second half of the 10 miler comes back to the downtown area, with the familiar home stretch coming down Poinsett Street to the finish at City Park.
The 10K course goes south on Hwy. 14 and loops through Century Park before doubling back. The second half of the 10K (through town) is similar to the 10 miler.
The 5K run/walk route is a keyhole loop design. It goes west through neighborhoods off Poinsett Street, turns around at Beverly Lane, and returns with a straight shot down Poinsett Street to City Park.
