Description
The second annual NATHAN BLACK 5K is scheduled for October 26, 2013 and is in memory of Nathan Black, who passed away January 21, 2011. Nathan graduated from East Carolina University in 2005 in Occupational Therapy and later earned his Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
Nathan loved people, he loved helping people and always believed in ‘Paying it forward’. Before he passed away, he founded the “Freedom Scholarship in Occupational Therapy” at East Carolina University. This scholarship was founded so that any member of the military, family member of a military service person, or any person entering the military could apply for this scholarship, attend ECU and major in Occupational Therapy. Nathan did this because of his great love for his Country and his even greater respect for the Service men and women who serve(d) this great Country. This is how he gives back, even today.
To honor Nathan and his dream of giving back, we, his family and friends, work hard to support his endeavors to his Freedom Scholarship, so appropriately named, and hope and pray that many of you see and understand why this is so very important to us and to others. We also have a dream of keeping his memory alive and keeping his dream of ‘paying it forward’ alive. Nathan is not just a ‘memory’ for us; he is a love in our hearts and a constant reminder that so much can be accomplished in such a young life.
Please, help us keep the Freedom Scholarship in OT at ECU alive and well.
