Santa Run 5K – Frequently Asked Questions

Are dogs allowed?

No. Dogs are not allowed, including well-behaved or leashed dogs.

The course includes tight sections around the marina, and for safety and congestion reasons we cannot permit animals on the route.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes — SINGLE strollers only, and we ask stroller participants to start at the back of the pack for safety.

Double strollers or extra wide jogging strollers are not allowed due to narrow course sections.

Do I have to run in the Santa suit?

Yes! The full Santa suit is included with registration, and wearing it is part of the fun. You can modify it for comfort or weather (e.g., layer under it), but we ask everyone to join in the holiday spirit.

Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?

No. We do not offer refunds for any reason. All proceeds support the Anacortes High School Cross Country Team, and your entry still helps them even if you can’t attend.

Where do I pick up my Santa suit and race bib?

You can pick up your suit and bib at Packet Pickup:

  • December 4–5: 5–7 PM at the beer garden behind Rockfish Grill (320 Commercial Ave).
  • Limited Race Day: 7–8 AM (race-day pickup incurs a $3 fee; intended for out-of-town runners).

Can I pick up packets for friends or family?

Yes. You may pick up multiple packets as long as you know the runners’ names.

Is the race timed?

Yes. The 5k is fully chip-timed, and results will be posted online shortly after the event.

What’s included with my registration?

  • Full Santa suit
  • Finisher medal
  • Post-race cookies, cocoa, and treats
  • Chance to win a gallon of eggnog if you’re the overall male or female winner
  • Festive holiday atmosphere supporting a great cause

Is the Kid’s Dash timed?

No — Run with Rudolph is a fun run for younger kids and is not chip-timed.

Can I walk the 5k?

Absolutely. Walkers are welcome! We simply ask that walkers start toward the back to help with flow.

Is the race course closed to traffic?

Key sections are coned and monitored, and volunteers will be on course, but the route is not fully closed to vehicles. Please stay alert and follow all course markings and volunteer instructions.

Are wheelchairs allowed?

Yes. Athletes using wheelchairs are welcome on the course. Please be mindful that portions of the route include narrow and slightly uneven marina paths, so use caution and be aware of runners around you.

What happens if it rains or snows?

We run in all weather. This is the Pacific Northwest — plan layers under your Santa suit!

Are headphones allowed?

Yes, but please keep the volume low so you can hear instructions and other participants.

Where can I park?

Free parking is available around Cap Sante Marina and nearby lots. Please arrive early to avoid congestion.

Is there a gear check?

No formal gear check is available. Please leave valuables in your vehicle.

Is there an aid station?

Yes! There is one aid station at Mile 2, and it serves eggnog (of course!).

Water and treats await you at the finish.
