FAQs

Who can enter the event?

This event is designed for anyone and everyone! You can also encourage family members and friends to join you to help you achieve your goal. You can Crawl/Walk/Skip/Run/Bike/Swim/Row from anywhere to participate.

What do I get?

Since you are out there crushing your Spring Turtle Fling Challenge goals, we believe you deserve a little bit of swag! All participants will receive the following items, to celebrate your hard work: The Spring Turtle Fling Challenge Finisher Medal, Custom Printable Finisher Certificate, and Virtual Milestone Badges to keep you motivated along the way. Of course, you also get the satisfaction of knowing you’re a badass who can’t be stopped by the elements!

When will I receive my medal?

We do our absolute best to ship medals within 4 to 6 weeks of the race being completed, but cannot guarantee shipment dates.

Will I get my cool gear even if I haven't finished the race? 

Absolutely! We will be sending packages to everyone before the official race date is over, so you can even wear your gear (and medal) for your final run!

How do I complete the challenge?

You can complete it any way you wish. You can walk, roll, run, spin, swim - whatever makes you happy! And you can cover your miles any day, and in any way, that best works for you.

When Can I Start?

You can start recording miles anytime after March 14th and you will have until March 31st to complete the event. 

What is the Deal With Race Bibs?

We are excited to say that all runners will have access to their Race Bibs instantly! You can print yours out from the computer by going to your Profile...> Upcoming Events Tab---> and clicking on the "View Digital Bib" link listed to the right of the Winter Warrior event. Print out your bib and wear it for your workouts, or hang it on your wall for some extra motivation! 

How Do You Track Our Progress?

This challenge relies on the honor system, and as such does not require any validation for results. You will log miles continuously throughout the challenge, as you work toward your ultimate goal!  As you log miles, your cumulative distance will update automatically.

To log miles: Visit https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/MountainView/SpringTurtleFling. Go to the "Results" tab on the Menu. At the top of the page, it will say "Post your Virtual Results". Hit the Blue "Submit Virtual Results" button. Search for your name and follow the steps! If you have additional questions, check out our "How to Log Your Miles" tab. You are welcome to take photos of your watch, phone screen, treadmill, etc. to share your results and/or activity in the Slow AF Run Club’s iOS/Android App.

How does the charity component work?

Slow AF Run club donates 5% of all proceeds to Feeding America.  However, we want to do more! As part of the Winter Warrior Challenge, we are encouraging all participants to help in the fight against hunger by donating to this important cause. All donations made through the "Donate" portion of the website will go directly to Feeding America.

I am not a runner, can I walk the distance, ride my bike, or a stationary bike and count those as miles also?

Absolutely! You can complete the distance in any way that you want. 

What are "Milestone Badges"?

As you are making progress throughout the winter, it is important to stop and celebrate your achievements! Milestone Badges are virtual "rewards" for reaching different milestones throughout your race. As you log miles, these badges will appear in your virtual trophy case, as a way to celebrate your accomplishments!


What's up with the Photo Album?

Once you log an activity, you are able to add photos to share with the rest of the community! This is completely optional, but if you would like to add a photo, choose your result, click the “photos” button, choose “upload images”, and boom! Your image is now publicly shared on the race website. Plus, the Winter Warrior logo will appear on it, along with a custom water mark. No need to miss out on fun race photos just because we are virtual!

I am not in the United States, can I participate?

Yes. Please note that medals outside of the US can take up to 4 to 6 weeks for delivery and will be charged an additional shipping fee.

Refund policy?

All registration fees are non-refundable. This policy applies to all registrants whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, etc. If the course has to be altered or cancelled due to an act of nature, or the event time changed due to circumstances beyond our control, there are no refunds.

Here are some common trouble shooting questions for logging your race:

Q: Do I need to enter my miles every day?
A: No! Sometimes you might forget to login, or it is easier to enter multiple times at once. This is no problem. You will see that after you results have been submitted, there is a button to "Add Another Activity". This allows you to add multiple activities at once, including those in the past. 

Q: I need to enter my second run but I keep entering it and my first run disappears, how do I fix it?
A: In this example, you are overwriting the first run.  Instead, keep the data the same for the first run, and click ADD ANOTHER ACTIVITY in order to add your second run/walk. You will continue to do this every time you add a run/walk. 

Q: When I search my name it does not come up to enter virtual results or it says I don't have permission?
A: You must be logged into the same https://runsignup.com/login   account that you registered with.

Q: I ran again today, how do I enter a second entry of results?
A: In the results page, choose Add Another Activity.  DO NOT JUST OVERWRITE THE PREVIOUS ACTIVITY OR IT WILL DISAPPEAR. Each time you do a new run/walk, you need to click Add Another Activity.  At the end of the challenge, If you ran once per day and have 62 runs, you will see all 62 activities in the submit results page. Don't overwrite them.

Q: I made a mistake on entering my results, how do I change it?
A: In this example, you can go and overwrite the mistake, rather than entering it again correctly. Just overwrite the incorrect data.

Q: I entered my results but I don't see them in the listing.
A: The results take a few minutes to update. 

Q: My friend registered me, how do I move that to my account?

Q: I am listed as anonymous in the results, why? 
A: When you create an account, you have an option to be listed as anonymous in results.  If you do not want this, go into your https://runsignup.com   profile and click to edit profile.  You will see a check box at the bottom that you want to UNCHECK to be listed again.
