Age Groups & Awards
Swim to the Moon Open Water Swim Festival is sanctioned by U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) and conducted in accordance with the USMS Open Water and Long Distance Swimming Rules.

Awards are presented only in non-wetsuit divisions. Wetsuit participants are not eligible for awards.

A swimmer’s age group is determined by their age on December 31 of the competition year.

Swimmers competing under the USMS sanction must be at least 18 years old.

Swimmers under age 18 compete under a separate USA Triathlon sanction.

13 and under (0.5-mile and 1.2-mile only), 14-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Award Ceremony Schedule
We’ll begin awards for each event as soon as results are available—even if some participants are still on the course. This allows us to celebrate as many finishers as possible before they head home.
If later finishers earn an age-group award, we’ll hold a second round to recognize them and give them their well-deserved moment, too. Our goal is to make sure every award winner has the opportunity to be celebrated!
9:15 a.m. — 10K, 5K, and 2.4 Mile Overall and Masters
9:45 a.m. — 5K and 2.4 Mile Age Group
10:00 a.m. — 10K Age Group
10:15 a.m. — 1.2 Mile and 0.5 Mile Overall and Masters
10:30 a.m. — 0.5 Mile Age Group
10:45 a.m. — 1.2 Mile Age Group
11:00 a.m. — 15K Overall and Masters
11:15 a.m. — 15K Age Group
