Description
WHO: Quatina M. Wolaver Foundation of Hope & OUR BIGGEST AND CRAZIEST SUPPORTERS!
WHAT: A New Year's Day dunk in what is sure to be a very cold swimming pool - GUARANTEED to instantly cure any hangover from New Year's Eve!
WHEN: January 1, 2024 at 12:00 PM
WHERE: 49 Quick School Road, Fayetteville, TN
WHY: Because we're THOSE people...and more importantly to raise money for research and awareness for ovarian cancer.
Plungers (crazies?!) will be asked to commit to raising a minimum of $250 by January 1st to participate in the Plunge! To ensure you get a very cute sweatshirt, which you will immediately want to put on the second you've earned it, make sure you register on here by December 1st! We have set a goal of 20 plungers to raise $5,000!!!
We will Facebook Live this event, as technology allows, from the Foundation's page and also have it recorded in case there's a glitch with the Live (we're in a rural area, so great reception isn't always in the cards). We encourage you to bring anyone you'd like to be your towel and warm clothes holder/helper, photographer, videographer, etc. If you want to go Live for your own plunge, please do! We want to spread as much awareness as we can!
We will have a very warm shop for you to change in as soon as you've completed your plunge. The shop is divided, so males will have one end and females will have the other. As soon as you're back to being warm and dry, you can help yourself to a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate! And we will bring back our soup / stew / chili bar with all the fixins!
I took to Google and found these helpful Polar Plunge tips:
1. Strip down to a bathing suit. Wet clothes hold the cold water on your skin.
2. Get in. Get out. Quick! Cold water can cause exhaustion and unconsciousness in as little as 15 minutes.
3. If you have heart problems you should consult your doctor before plunging NOT participate.
4. Change into warm clothes as soon as possible after you leave the water. I mean, DUH.
5. Finally, relish the fact that you have done something extraordinary...ily insane and for a fantastic cause!
