Description
Yes, this is the one you've always wanted...a continuous route around Grapevine Lake which hits all of the MTB trails in one go! This is FREE for Club Spinistry members.
We provide the route and some support, you provide the adventure and good times. This get together is FREE for Club Spinistry members. If the system does not recognize you as an active Club Spinistry member on 11/30/19 the $75 fee will be applied to a 12 month Club Spinistry membership/renewal.
Go ahead and load up 2nds, 3rds and maybe even 4ths through the Holidaze, We have the perfect way to burn those calories, maybe shed a few pounds and most definitely have a grand urban adventure on the bicycle! Total route distance is 100 miles including all of the single track at Horseshoe, Knob Hills, Northshore as well as the paved loop around Grapevine Lake to get to all three trails. The match works out to about 45 miles of singletrack and 55 miles of pavement/multi use trails/park roads/etc.
If there is any interest we will look into options for splitting the route and including an overnight camping spot along the way. Please message us if you might be interested in that option. Again, this is a club social ride not a race. However, we will record times for people who wish to keep track of their performance for ongoing training purposes. The route will not be marked but we will provide GPS navigation files as well as free access to the Ride With GPS navigation app for riders who don't already have a GPS navigation device.
Rally point will be Mad Duck Cyclery in Grapevine on Saturday morning. Route will go from there to lap 1 at Horseshoe Trail for the morning warm up. Route proceeds through Southlake/Trophy Club and into Roanoke for stops at Memo's Tacos and Mad Duck in Roanoke. From there it goes to the Knob Hills trailhead. After Knob Hills the route winds through Argyle and Flower Mound towards the Twin Coves trailhead for the Northshore trail. After Northshore the route goes over the dam and back to another closing lap at Horseshoe with a wrap up back at Mad Duck in Grapevine.
Riders need to follow all traffic rules of the Great State of Texas when on route and we highly suggest flashing lights front and rear. There will be short sections of the route on higher speed roadways. We will tag along with the main group and have drinks/snacks/limited mechanical support available BUT this is considered a self supported ride. Riders will need to make their own transportation arrangements if they are unable to complete the ride for any reason. Also, we will not be able to guarantee that we will be in the same spot as you if you are riding a different pace than the main group. We are happy to carry coolers/supplies/etc. for riders but we will be on our own schedule to get from point to point in support vehicles.
