Description
Join us at Grit Running Center on Saturday, September 14th @ noon for the first in a series of HARRA-hosted runner clinics tackling important topics for individual runners and running organizations. The topic of this clinic is Runner Safety.
In the wake of recent incidents within the running community, the topic of safety for local runners has been trending on social media and in casual conversation among Houston runners. In addition to the concern we feel for the victims of physical or psychological attacks, what can we, as a strong and vibrant community, take away as learnings to better ensure our own personal and group safety on the roads and trails?
Join us for a discussion and Q&A with panelists representing a diverse cross-section of Houston runners. Our exciting list of speakers and panelists include:
- HARRA President Chad Holmes (moderator)
- Houston City Council Member Sallie Alcorn (keynote)
- Grace Enriquez (panelist)
- Starla Garcia (panelist)
- Shermain Rene (panelist)
- HPD Officier Lucia Vieira (guest speaker)
The event will be live-streamed on Zoom for virtual attendees. Lunch will be provided by HARRA for in-person participants. Capacity is limited so RSVP early.
