Description
The Alex Stephens Superhero 5K Benefit will raise money for Alex Stephens, 6, who has recently been diagnosed with an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT) of the brain, a very aggressive cancer. Just last year, Alex’s little sister, Meredith Stephens, 4, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. “I can not begin to imagine what Michelle Dimond, their mother, is going through,” stated Amanda Willows, the event organizer. “As always, the wonderful people at South Main Iron and Paris Coffee Co immediately joined me in putting this fundraiser together for this family in need.”
The race and walk will take place at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3rd, at South Main Iron with an awards ceremony to follow. We will also have a silent auction organized by Tessa Rushin with all proceeds going to Alex and his family.
All proceeds from the event will be used for bills and expenses as the family travels back and forth to Dallas for hospital visits and treatments. “As you can imagine, a single mother with 2 small children who have cancer can’t possibly work at this time. This event is to show her that she is not in this alone.”
There is a registration fee of $25 for the race. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the race.
Online registration will be available through midnight Friday, December 2nd.
