Description

11/4/24 Update Due to a family emergency we have put this ride on hold. We hope to reschedule to February or early March but nothing is set at this time. We will update information when we are able to.

Big Bend/Texas adventure at its finest! Almost all backcountry, private ranch roads. More details soon.

Bad Rabbit 100 starts and ends at the Bad Rabbit Café. 100 miles Saturday only with strictly enforced 12mph cutoff at the halfway point. Primitive on site camping for Friday and Saturday night included. Saturday evening meal included. Cabins and RV sites available at additional cost. Make no mistake, doing this all in one go will be tough. If you aren't sure if you are capable of pulling it off then you probably aren't. Signup for the Little Burro 50/50 if you aren't sure about 100 hard and remote miles in one day.

Little Burro 50/50 Two Day adventure ride. Starts and ends at Little Burro Country store with Saturday overnight at Bad Rabbit and returns to Little Burro on Sunday. Primitive camping included for all 3 nights. Saturday evening meal and Sunday evening wrap party included. Friday through Monday morning RV sites available for additional cost.

Saturday night festivities and camping for all at Terlingua Ranch Lodge/Bad Rabbit Café. Signup fee is waived for Titanium Level members.

FAQ's:

Q: What size tire is ideal? A: The terrain is suited for 2"+ MTB tires. A hardtail MTB or drop bar MTB is likely the best all around platform for most riders. Full suspension is overkill but front suspension is a nice to have. Yes, it can be done on a traditional gravel bike with at least 40mm tires but there will more hike a bike involved and a generally less enjoyable experience overall.

Q: What do you mean by "primitive camping"? A: Primitive camping is a patch of dirt to put up a tent. There is no electricity or water at the campsite itself. There are no shade structures. Restroom facilities and power are available on the properties. Portajohns at Jackass Flats, traditional restrooms with showers and a restaurant at Terlingua Ranch Lodge.

Q: Are these roads or trails? A: Technically the route is all private roads on Terlingua Ranch with a few miles of county maintained roads and Highway 118. While none of the route is singletrack there is a good bit of rugged double track and barely passable dirt/gravel/rock roads. Endurance mountain bike riders will find the level of challenge to be acceptable.

Q: is it a race? A: We will be collecting times for posterity's sake for the Bad Rabbit 100 single day event. This will establish an FKT for the route. Does that make it a race? We will let the participants make that call.

Q: How do 50/50 riders get their gear from Jackass Flats to Terlingua Ranch Lodge and back? You need to be able to carry your camping gear on the bike. We will provide water resupply on the route and some snacks. Saturday evening dinner will be provided and there is a restaurant on site if you prefer something different. We will also be able to carry some food for riders with special dietary needs.
