Natural Lands' trek-a-thon

Tue June 1 - Wed June 30 Any trail, PA 19063 US

How Does It Work?

it’s simple...

  • Register yourself or your team here. It's free!
    • Teams are twice the fun! Create a team with your friends, family, and co-workers.
    • Teams can be 2 to 25 people. Have more than 25? Create multiple teams for some friendly competition.
  • Start trekking at our nature preserves, in your own neighborhood, or on your treadmill.
    • You may use any tracking app you would like. Don’t have a tracking app? There are lots of free tracking apps that you can download onto your smart phone including Strava, Apple Health, Google Health, Steps App, and Map My Walk.
    • If unable to track your mileage, you may estimate, but please be as accurate as possible.
  • Log your miles June 1 to June 30 and submit them to us online here.
    • Mileage is on the honor system.
  • Share your trekking experience on social media.
    • Join the Trek-a-Thon Facebook page (coming soon)
    • Use the hashtag #trekathon2021

go the extra mile.

  • Set a fundraising goal and ask friends and family to sponsor you or your team's trek.
    • We suggest a minimum goal of $250. That’s only 10 people sponsoring you $1 per mile for 25 miles (only 6.25 miles per week!).
  • Create your own fundraising page where you can share your story and collect pledges.
  • Estimate the number of miles you will walk, hike, or jog in a month and include that number on your fundraising page or pledge form so that your sponsors have an idea of how much they will be donating.
  • Tell your friends, family, and co-workers why you support Natural Lands’ mission to save open space, care for nature, and connect people to the outdoors, and why they should sponsor you.
  • Ask for pledges—they can be any amount per mile or a flat donation.
  • For complete instructions on setting-up your fundraiser and collecting pledges, click here
  • Create a company team to maximize the fun.
  • Ask your employer to match your donation or pledge your team’s miles.

etiquette tips for participants.
  • We want everyone to be safe and feel comfortable when visiting our preserves, so please no spitting or other gross stuff. COVID-19 is spread by respiratory droplets and transmission may occur when these droplets enter the mouths, noses, or eyes of people who are nearby. Carry tissues with you on the go and dispose of them properly.
  • Please don’t go out if you feel sick or if you have been in contact with anyone else who does.
  • Be sure to practice safe distancing procedures while out on your runs. Give other runners, walkers, bicyclists at least 6' of distance even when passing.
  • Keep your dogs on a leash (no off-leash dogs on any Natural Lands’ properties) and shorten the leash when necessary so others can pass easily.
  • Leave No Trace: All Natural Lands’ buildings and facilities are closed, and many other parks’ facilities are as well. Take what you need with you and be sure to pack it back out.
