Description
The Seventh Annual Innovation 5k offers a competitive but fun race on Eisenhower Avenue with a climb close to the start/end of the run. The event starts on Eisenhower Avenue behind the Madison Building and finishes in the Dulaney Gardens of the USPTO Campus. The event offers a unique technical t-shirt, electronic timing by Racewire, a chance to win awards/prizes, post-race refreshments, and fun activities for kids of all ages.

0.1k Squid Surge!
This year we will be having the Squid Surge as a way to collect school supply packs that will be donated to a local Alexandria middle school for use by the students in their pursuit of STEM education. Don't have a school supply pack on hand? No problem! One will be included in your race packet.
We'll be collecting them at packet pick-up and at the conclusion of the Squid Surge as well as other times during the event.
The .1k Squid Surge will start at 8:00pm to kick off the evening. Racers will run/walk/skip/dash/surge the 100 meters to the location of the 5k start. We encourage everyone to race with their supply packs to the finish line where we will have donation bins set-up for anyone wanting to donate their pack.
Free Gym Trial Membership and 5K Training at the USPTO!
The Fitness Center located on the first floor of the Knox Building at the USPTO is a great resource to train and get in shape for the Innovation 5k!
A FREE two week trial is available for potential new members with your registration for the Innovation 5k. Included in the two week is a free consultation with one of the fitness center's fitness experts to discuss your fitness strategy as well as training plans for the 5k!

Items included in race packet!
Each registrants of the PTOS Innovation 5k will recieve a race packet (packet pick-up times below) including:
A free brewery tour and tasting at Port City Brewery in Alexandria, VA
An Innovation 5k/Squid Surge techincal t-shirt
A Squid Surge school supply pack (we'll have donation bins set up to collect the supply packs that are donated)
RACE PREMIUM - UNIQUE TECHNICAL T-SHIRTS
Each Innovation 5k registrant will receive a technical t-shirt depicting the PTOS Innovation 5k and Squid Surge logos. Youth, Women and Male/Unisex sizes and styles are available!
Registrants that only signed up for the Squid Surge will have the option of adding a t-shirt for an additional $12.00 (registrants of the Innovation 5k can buy additional t-shirts if they would like too!).
POST-RACE ACTIVITIES
This year we'll have live music going after the run!!
All 21+ Innovation 5k participants will receive a free adult beverage to enjoy during the while listening to the live music, checking out information on this year's spotlighted innovator, Emmett W. Chappelle, and during the award ceremony.
Fresh bananas, granola bars and bottled water will be available post race for all participants.
Award ceremony to follow completion of the race at approximately 9:15pm.
5k AWARDS
Prizes will be awarded to the top two male and female overall finishers. Race medals and certificates will be to the top two male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 & over. Prizes will also be awarded for the the top 2 finishing teams in the Parent/Child category.
PACKET PICK-UP
Packets will be available for pick-up on Wednesday (5/30) and Thursday (5/31) from 12:00 - 1:00pm in the lower atrium of the Madison building of the USPTO. You must fill out a Participant Waiver and Release form to pick up your packet.

Packets will also be available for pick-up on the evening of the race in the lower atrium of the Madison building of the USPTO from 7:00- 7:45pm.
Picking Up for Your Friends and Family
We do allow participants to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends and family however they must bring a completed Participant Waiver and Release form for each person they are picking up for. The form is found at the above link.
Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed if they are not picked up.
PARKING
Free parking will be available the morning of the event in the West Parking Garage located on Elizabeth Lane next to the USPTO Campus.
