Description

New Directions Center, Inc. is hosting its 3rd annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event in honor of domestic violence awareness month! This year, not only will there be a relay race where local law enforcement officers and first responders compete in high heel shoes, but after this race we will have a walkathon open to the public to help raise money for victims in our community! Participants can register for $30, and are encouraged to raise additional funds from family, friends and/or colleagues to support their effort to walk a mile around Wilson Memorial's track--symbolizing the steps victims take toward freedom and healing. Participants will literally walk a mile to show their commitment to ending this senseless violence and are welcome to wear women's shoes as a symbol of their commitment to ending domestic violence, but it is not a requirement.

We would love to have your support as a participant in this walk and encourage you to assemble a team of people to join! As a symbol of our appreciation for participating by either donating or raising the $30 registration fee, you will get an event t-shirt if you register by Oct. 15th! All proceeds raised will go directly to services for victims of violence in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County. There will also be food, music, mini self defense classes, activities for children and local resources and businesses at the event!

Registration Fee: $30
Team of 5 or more: $28 per individual
Day of Registration Fee: $35
*T-Shirt Included with Registration if you register before Oct. 15th
